#1 Ranked Barrel Aged Gin in the World

#1 Ranked Barrel Aged Gin in the World

Henri doesn’t like to rush. He doesn’t like to shout. He just likes to quietly get on with things in his own way. And this time, it turns out his way has taken him all the way to the top.

At the 2025 London Spirits Competition, Henri’s Barrel Aged Gin: Kentucky Bourbon wasn’t just noticed. It wasn’t just applauded. It was crowned the highest ranked Barrel Aged Gin in the world. Number one. The big chair.

And here’s the kicker: there are only 156 bottles of it. One barrel, from the famed Lawrenceburg region of Kentucky. Lightly charred oak, coaxing out caramel and vanilla, with Henri sneaking in a little extra vanilla bean for good measure. We left it alone for 7 months, letting time, wood, and gin strike up their conversation.

The result is something I’d call dangerously civilised. Rich and warming yet bright at the edges, it sits just as comfortably in an Old Fashioned as it does poured over ice at the end of a long day. At 50% ABV, it doesn’t whisper, it speaks in a confident baritone.

Henri would never admit it, but this was always part of his mischief. This barrel is just the first in a trilogy: Porto and Bordeaux are waiting patiently in the wings. If Kentucky gave us vanilla and caramel, just wait until the Europeans start flexing.

To see something we dreamed up in a small Sydney distillery take home the title of world’s best Barrel Aged Gin is more than humbling, it’s proof that slow, deliberate craft still makes the loudest noise.

Here’s to Henri. And here’s to sharing what’s left of those 156 bottles while they last.

Cheers,
Jane Owen, Master Distiller
