Unexpected Scavenger Hunt

Presented in partnership with Sydney Film Festival, June 4-15

To celebrate the Film Festival, Unexpected Guest is sending you on a mission.

We've hidden five checkpoints across the Sydney CBD, each one unlocking exclusive prizes. With over $3,000 in prizes up for grabs, from cinema tickets and gin experiences to bar tabs, merch and more, it’s worth the detour.

Scan any checkpoint between June 4–15 to go in the draw for daily giveaways. Scan all five, and you’ll be in the running to win Gin for a Year. Let the hunt begin.

How to play:

Step 1.

Find a checkpoint

Start your hunt at the Unexpected Guest Distillery activation at the Sydney Film Festival Hub @ Town Hall. From there, follow the trail across select cinemas, venues, and a few unexpected spots.

Step 2.

Scan the QR code

Check in by entering your name and email.

Once checked in complete the film trivia to unlock the next location.

Step 3.

Scan all and win

Scan all 5 checkpoints within the festival time frame of June 4th to June 15th to go into the running to win gin for a year!

Daily prizes announced 10am each day. Gin for a year announced on June 18th at 10am.

FAQ's

Do I need to buy anything?
Nope! The scavenger hunt is completely free to play. All you need is a phone and a sense of adventure.

What if I only find one checkpoint?
Even one scan enters you into that day’s prize draw. Of course, the more checkpoints you find, the closer you get to the grand prize.

Is there a certain date that I have to join the hunt?
No, you can start playing any day during the Sydney Film Festival from June 4th to June 15th.

Can I start at any checkpoint?
Yes! You can start anywhere but the checkpoints are numbered 1 to 5 to guide you along the quickest route.
